Her vest is cut from an incredibly aged Grandmother’s Garden quilt, worn and tattered in all the beautiful ways that only come with time. Years of use have left the quilt unbelievably soft, with frayed edges, fading, mends, and imperfections that I chose to preserve rather than hide. She even keeps the quilt’s original hemline, giving the bottom of the jacket an organic, one-of-a-kind shape.
I paired the antique quilt with light-wash denim sleeves, giving Phoebe that perfectly relaxed, oversized, collected-over-time feel. Because of the age and condition of this quilt, she should be treated as the heirloom she is — but that same age is exactly what makes her so special.
